Julia Alvarez has been called “a writer of gigantic storytelling talent, and exquisitely composed prose.” She is one of the most critically and commercially successful Latina writers of her generation along with Mexican American Sandra Cisneros and Chilean Novelist Isabel Allende. Her works span multiple genres and audiences including three books of nonfiction, three collections of poetry, 11 books for children and young adults, and seven literary novels.
